The Day that Jesus came to town

Jesus came to town one day to spread the holy word.
But his voice could not be heard to each ear that his mouth had spoken.
Each face he sees, he’d say good day to you; my name is Jesus Christ.
To this, they turn their heads and laugh without thinking twice.
Why, Jesus, it's good to see you finally come to save the day.
They would grin, mocking his words, and walk away.
Then there was a man so full of sin it had taken his whole life.
This man had nothing left to his name; he had even lost his wife.
Each day, death would call out his name.
And each night, he’d cry himself to sleep, as death just never came.
Above them all, Jesus knew this was a man that he must meet.
To which the man he did reply, why Jesus, I am not worthy even to wash your feet.
My soul is black and filled to the brim with sin.
To speak of it all, I would not know where to begin.
With tears of joy, Jesus chuckled, 'My Son, your humility and repentance make you the worthiest of them all.'
For each person I approached, you were the only one who answered my call.
As I bring this tale to an end, I ask you this question, if you may.
If Jesus were to approach you on the street one bright and sunny day?
Would you be the one who’d kiss his cheek and bless his holy name?
Or would you be the one who walks away and tells yourself, surely that man must truly be insane?
